Lance is a working class guy who is challenging a special interest owned Republican incumbent who has advocated for Drilling for Oil in the Great Lakes, the Bush tax cuts for the rich, and all of the failed policies of the Bush/Cheney Administration that we are still cleaning up today.

We can follow what happened back in the 40s or 50s. I was just a little girl in Miami, and they built camps for the people that snuck into the country, because they were illegal. They put them in the camps, and they shipped them back. We can do that.

A few months ago I read a book titled "Slavery by another name" by Douglas A. Blackmon which detailed how institutional racism in the Post-Confederate South created a system of Neo-Slavery that allowed the exploitation of labor without liberty based on racial prejudice to continue in much of the U.S.A. until the middle of the 20th century.
Neoslavery was the practice of abducting African Americans, and/or imprisoning them based on exaggerated or false criminal charges, and forcing them into servitude long after the days of the Civil War that supposedly put an end to such practices. As the subtitle of his book indicates, the practice basically constituted "The Re-Enslavement of Black Americans from the Civil War to World War II." Blackmon maintains that the practice was particularly prominent in the states of Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. Moreover, the "free" labor it provided was utilized by a number of corporations and allowed them to become some of the wealthiest and most powerful in modern U.S. history.

Senator Bernie Sanders calls it what it is, fabulously wealthy families and their multinational corporations are hell-bent on destroying the middle class and determined to create an Oligarchy.

While the middle class disappears and poverty increases the wealthiest people in our country are not only doing extremely well, they are using their wealth and political power to protect and expand their very privileged status at the expense of everyone else. And still you voted for Obama instead of McCain. Still you rejected their failed and corrupt ideology despite their attempts to use fear, hate and lies to scare you into voting for the same stupidity that has decimated America since the year 2000.
The fact is, this is CLASS WAR, all out class war, and any Democrat, voter or candidate, who can not admit that has already accepted defeat.
Conservatives and their neoliberal allies don't really care about deficits; they care about austerity-about gutting the welfare state and redistributing wealth upward. That's the objective. Deficits are just what they can all agree on, the WMDs of this manufactured crisis.
Same shock doctrine as ever. Conservatives squandered surpluses, created deficits, declared "deficits don't matter", and then doublethinked themselves into outrage as soon as they were out of power. Suddenly deficits DO matter, and reversing the policies that created them are off the table. It's like having your roommate blow the rent money on booze and then having to listen to him tell you why you should be more responsible.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Mark Williams for proving beyond the shadow of a doubt that the astroturfed tea party movement is also a white supremacy movement. From now on, whenever anybody cries FOUL at the idea that teabaggers are motivated by racial hatred and a sense of white superiority, liberals now have an easy two word answer, and that answer is "Mark Williams."
So thank you for that.
As already detailed by David Waldman today in his piece How to not dispel the sense that you're a bunch of insane racists , Mark Williams, teabagger spokeswizard (you have to act like a compassionate human being to be referred to as one in my book), in response to the charges that some teabaggers are racist and the tea party movement is largely tolerant of racial intolerance aimed at non-whites, released this mock letter to President Abraham Lincoln, asking to reinstate slavery on behalf of the once enslaved minority group to which Mark Williams does not belong.
The offensive letter that should end Mark Williams career, but will not, is reposted here.

We Coloreds have taken a vote and decided that we don't cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop!
In fact we held a big meeting and took a vote in Kansas City this week. We voted to condemn a political revival of that old abolitionist spirit called the 'tea party movement'.
The tea party position to "end the bailouts" for example is just silly. Bailouts are just big money welfare and isn't that what we want all Coloreds to strive for? What kind of racist would want to end big money welfare? What they need to do is start handing the bail outs directly to us coloreds! Of course, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is the only responsible party that should be granted the right to disperse the funds.
And the ridiculous idea of "reduce[ing] the size and intrusiveness of government." What kind of massa would ever not want to control my life? As Coloreds we must have somebody care for us otherwise we would be on our own, have to think for ourselves and make decisions!
The racist tea parties also demand that the government "stop the out of control spending." Again, they directly target coloreds. That means we Coloreds would have to compete for jobs like everybody else and that is just not right.
Perhaps the most racist point of all in the tea parties is their demand that government "stop raising our taxes." That is outrageous! How will we coloreds ever get a wide screen TV in every room if non-coloreds get to keep what they earn? Totally racist! The tea party expects coloreds to be productive members of society?
Mr. Lincoln, you were the greatest racist ever. We had a great gig. Three squares, room and board, all our decisions made by the massa in the house. Please repeal the 13th and 14th Amendments and let us get back to where we belong.

But what they cannot do, even with supermajorities in both houses of Congress behind them, is pass the kind of transformative progressive legislation that Barack Obama promised in his 2008 presidential campaign.
