Our Candidate List
But now that I have read the endorsement Rep Alan Grayson (Big D-FL08) just gave it, I want it more than ever.
Rep. Alan Grayson:
At their hugely popular website 'Crooks and Liars,' John Amato and David Neiwert have helped to expose the fact that there is no conservative party in America any more. They show that the right wingers are not conservatives, they are anarchists.
The only law the right wing believes in is the Law of the Jungle. No schools, no hospitals, no job programs, no nothing. Their idea of nirvana is Mogadishu.
See it there, at 'Crooks and Liars,' and read it here."
Only Alan Grayson can put something in perspective quite like that.
There is a fine art to making a powerful point without making that point. Usually, the way to do this is by saying something and then immediately follow by saying "That is not why I'm saying".
With that in mind, I give you Congressmen Alan Grayson (Kick Ass-FL), who, in an interview with Anderson Cooper last night, made the point ( without making it ) that to turn away Obama voters from your doctors office is pretty much the same thing as hanging a sign that says "No Blacks Allowed"
GRAYSON: Well, in fact, where he lives, in Mount Dora, which is in my district, many, many of the Democrats who live in Mount Dora happen to be African-Americans.
So, by saying that he will not treat somebody who supported Obama, he's saying that he's not going to treat a large number of African-Americans in the community
What needs to be done in 2010? What can the left do in 2010 to ensure a better, stronger America for ALL Americans?
Before deciding what needs to be done, first we must remember what we are fighting for.
Paul Wellstone
July 21, 1944 - October 25, 2002
The people of this country, not special interest big money, should be the source of all political power. Government must remain the domain of the general citizenry, not a narrow elite.
~ Senator Paul Wellstone
"Politics isn't about big money or power games; it's about the improvement of people's lives"
~ Senator Paul Wellstone
"I think this is really a good example of the commercial calculus and ties taking precedence over everything else. It's sort of like the almighty dollar is triumphing over a lot of other values that we have as a nation."
Dear misinformed Conservatives, We are sorry that you have been lied to by the Corporate Media. We are sorry that the scare tactics work on you every single time, we're sorry that you don't know anything about American history or even recent events. We are sorry that you can't help but stare at the National Enquirer while on the line at the grocery store, but you're not going to hold the line up anymore. The world won't let you.
Dear Conservative Americans, we are sorry that you can't see through Sarah Palin's bullshit. We're sorry you didn't figure out that this country is fucked until after George W. Bush left office. We are sorry that you live in a fantasy alternate reality of someone else's making, and we are inviting you out and into a better place, because stupid is not allowed to hold back the whole class anymore.
Thanks to Conservatives outing their own candidate we've got another vote for the public option in Congress, Bill Owens.
This remarkable win for Democrats was discussed in today's NY Times. The point I hadn't heard is that Republicans funded Dede Scozzafavva's campaign to the tune of $750,000. Yet because Conservatives didn't want her, she endorsed the Democratic candidate. 3/4 of 1 million dollars spent on someone who endorsed their opponent. :)~!
When the announcement was made that Chicago would not be getting the Olympic bid for 2016.. Conservatives at the Americans for Prosperity conference cheered. What an ironic name for this group of haters.
This is an absolutely disgusting video, and it really highlights the difference between Progressives and Conservatives. We hated Bush with a passion but would never wish Dallas not to get the 2014 games. We understand economics, and this Olympic bid would have brought billions of dollars and countless jobs to our country. This is truly hateful stuff from the compassionate Conservatives.
Who controls the past, controls the future. Who controls the present, controls the past ~ George Orwell, 1984
In the face of the revisionist historians on the right who would have you believe that Jesus was more important to the founding and building of America than our founding fathers, or that our founding fathers were in some way actually Religious and Fiscal Conservatives, I submit this theory for your approval.
The founding fathers were progressives
The Tories who supported the King of england were Conservatives.
If the Founding Fathers were Conservatives, we would still have a King.
Conservatives are never revolutionary, not unless that revolution is intended to halt progress and go backwards to the natural state of power in a nation.
Thus, conservatives conserve power and progressives seek change and progress.
Welcome home Sarah to your old office. Probably not as I'm sure Palin will parlay her resignation into a Faux News deal. Or at least a $20 million dollar book deal.
I feel vindicated for asking Palin to resign back in April of this year. We, Sen Murkowski, the citizens of the entire United States were able to turn the clock back to November when Caribou Barbie/ Wolf Hunter Mom was told that she was not ready for national prime-time.
Of course Palin said he did not want to be a "lame-duck governor". Conservative leaders offer varying opinions of the reasons behind this resignation and the aftermath it will have on her political career. I believe that she will certainly have a political career although more likely as a media pundit. Anyone who believes that Palin is done with politics or predicts that she will absolutely not run for President underestimates the strength of Palin Nation. Note I said run and not become.
This makes me so mad! I have no clue what these morons are talking about when they cry "socialism." Have they lost their minds? Do they not see how the deregulated 'free market' brought the World economy crashing to it's knees?
I really have not paid too much attention to all of this talk about the Republican "Tea Parties" being held next week. I didn't even realize that they were Tax Tea Parties on April 15 until just a couple of minutes ago.
Here's a good take at New Mexico FBI Hop on how it's a joke that the republicans are portraying this tea parties as grassroots events.
Every time I see Fox News or some other right-wing outlet saying that the tea parties are efforts from grassroots organizations on the Right, it always makes me chuckle.
The idea for the tea parties came from a cable news network, (CNBC), and a second-tier pundit (Rick Santelli). Not exactly people rising up from the streets. It has since been promoted by Fox News as "FNC Tea Parties."
I'm surprised that it isn't "FNC Tea Parties sponsored by Coors" or something to make it even more corporate and less grassroots.
Locally, the Albuquerque tea party has got coverage from the Albuquerque Journal, with Bruce Daniels writing, "Estimates of cities involved in next Wednesday's nationally coordinated but locally organized protests range from 500 to more than 1,500, and some protest backers -- like Michael Patrick Leahy of Top Conservatives on Twitter -- hope the combined protests will break a Guinness Book of World Records record for the largest multi-city demonstration in American history."
Umm... how many cities had Iraq war protests in 2003? And remember, 50,000 people gathering is nothing -- when they're liberals. But watch how the right-wing bloggers and pundits praise gatherings of hundreds of people after getting weeks of breathless coverage from Fox News and conservative talk radio.
I haven't listened to 770 KKOB, but I would bet that tea parties have been mentioned more than once in recent weeks.
Of course, pretending that corporately-backed 'movements' are really grassroots is nothing new. Just don't expect anyone in the local media to mention that Fox News and other reliable conservative outlets are pushing these "grassroots" events.
You would think if this were some massive movement, that members of Congress would be getting involved right? Well not exactly as right now Faux News can only find two members of Congress that have committed to attending any of these events.
Some of the local right-wing blowhards like Matt Murphy are expected to attend an event in Birmingham on Valleydale Road. I'm eagerly anticipating the estimated size of the crowds. I'm sure that we will see record like numbers of protesters (yeah right!)
