Earlier this week former Labor Secretary Robert Reich suggested a September 13 March on Washington for Healthcare Reform. Pennsylvania Congressman Chakah Fattah has also lent his name to the effort.
I can remember a number of historic events that have happened in my lifetime and where I was when they happened. For example, I remember exactly where I was at in my elementary school when I learned of the Challenger explosion. I remember where I was in the my law school building when I learned of the tragic events of 911. I remember watching the 1986 masters with my grandfather when Jack Nicklaus roared into the lead on the back 9. Okay so anyways I'm wondering if the inauguration will be one of those events. It is certainly a historic occasion, but there have been a number of historic occasions during this campaign and I wonder if they will blend into one occasion or will we remember them separately.
With all the excitement surrounding the inauguration and the treks to D.C, I am a bit sad that I will not be in our nation's capitol. However, I made the decision over a month ago not to attend based on the following reasons
1. It's cold in D.C. in January.
2. It will be congested in D.C. and I don't particularly like crowds.
3. It would be expensive to be in D.C. for several days
