Our Candidate List
We are near the finish line in a long uphill marathon and while we appear to be so far ahead we can walk or even crawl to the finish line, we have to sprint.
Every day between now and election day, we have to dig deep and push hard.
There are a number of Congressional Candidates that we have been promoting on our Two for Tuesdays page . And while we have several candidates that are well-funded and well-supported with resources by the DCCC and other groups, some of our candidates need more help.
(Thanks Glenn. We know you have been working very hard. - promoted by admin)
Time and time again Ralph Hall tells voters that American soldiers will have to "fight a war and take some energy away from someone." Does this represent your values? It doesn't represent mine. I believe it's time to stop talking about stealing and to start investing in America.
My campaign has produced a short video using Hall's own words to expose his values. Please circulate it to your family and friends.
We have twelve days left to spread the word and fight for change in Texas. Donate today and help put this commercial on the air: https://secure.actblue.com/con...

Josh Segall (AL-03) will also be joining us. We have just confirmed there are some very promising polls out that show him trailing Mike Rogers by single digits.
This Sunday we have another great lineup including Glenn Melancon (TX-04) and Mooncat from Left in Alabama to talk Alabama politics. Loren Collingwood will also be joining us to talk about some polling in the Presidential Race and the Georgia and Kentucky Senate races.
Glenn Melancon of Sherman is the Democratic candidate in Texas' 4th Congressional District. The district includes Bowie, Camp, Cass, Collin, Delta, Fannin, Franklin, Grayson, Hopkins, Hunt, Lamar, Morris, Rains, Red River, Rockwall and Titus counties. He is running against Republican Ralph Hall who is the oldest member of the House of Representatives and just changed parties in 2004 at the age of 81.
(Please donate to Glenn Melancon - He has a plethora of ideas about how to govern more effectively. - promoted by admin)
The wizards of Wall Street are threatening the survival of our republic and the free market. They want Congress to surrender budgetary authority to the President just like it surrendered War Powers during the debate over Iraq. It was wrong then, and it's wrong now. We must have accountability and transparency.
Our Founding Fathers wisely limited each branch of government and assigned each part specific responsibilities. The Constitution is clear-Congress, not the President nor the Federal Reserve, is the "decider." Congress decides how much to spend and what to spend it on. George Bush's request for a blank check to bail out Wall Street strikes at the very heart of our Constitution. If our Representatives write the check without protections for the taxpayers, then the American experiment of limited government will be over.
We've been focusing a lot on the Presidential race lately with the Conventions and the VP discussions taking up much of the political discourse.
We are going to try and get back to our Candidates and the Congressional Races on a more regular basis.
Today we want to take another look at TX-04. Glenn Melancon is taking on Ralph Hall, a 14 term Congressman.
We've been in touch with the Melancon campaign and they are really working hard. They are covering one of the largest geographical Districts in Texas from one end to the other.
We also got word that Congressman Hall's wife, Mary Ellen Hall, passed last week at the age of 83. From the Houston Chronicle . Our thoughts and prayers go out to Congressman Hall and his family. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this year.
However, we do think there are some valid concerns about Congressman Hall serving another term. While age should not be a disqualifier, I do believe that we have to think about whether or not Hall is in the best position to attend to his constituents after the death of his wife. I have not seen Hall's medical records, but question the wisdom of putting him back in office regardless.
Glenn Melancon, has demonstrated that he would be a better Congressman for the people of this district. Consider donating to Glenn today if you have not already done so.

A competitive energy market is the key to driving down consumer prices. Right now big oil has a monopoly. We can take steps now to fix this problem. That's why I welcome the new bipartisan energy compromise. The New Energy Reform Act of 2008 includes significant investments in alternative-fuel vehicles; repeals tax breaks for big oil, and opens new areas to offshore drilling. We have to break the gridlock in Congress. American families and small businesses need an energy policy that works for us.
A group of Republican and Democratic Senators unveiled "The New Energy Reform Act of 2008." They pulled ideas from both sides of the aisles in order to reach a deal as fast as possible.
Key features of the bill include:
Providing consumer tax credits of up to $7,500 per vehicle to motivate Americans to buy advanced alternative-fuel vehicles and up to $2,500 to retrofit existing vehicles with advanced alternative-fuel engines
Closing tax loopholes for energy corporations
Increasing the staff at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and funding research and development on nuclear waste recycling
Permitting oil and gas exploration beyond a 50 mile buffer zone off the coast of Florida, Virginia, the Carolinas and Georgia, if those states approve
Maintaining the ban on drilling in ANWAR and close to the coast
Glenn is the big winner. We will be working to raise him well over $1,000 hopefully. Remember to put him on your list for Two for Tuesday if you have not done so already.
He is facing Ralph Hall in TX-04. TX-04 is north of Dallas and covers the northeastern part of the state.
Ralph Hall is 85 years old and just became a Republican in 2004. Sam Rayburn served this District from 1913 to 1961.
Glenn is the leading candidate on our Two for Tuesdays page with $944.02 thus far.
We are getting the Progressive Electorate hats printed as we speak with Glenn's initials on the back. We are getting the scissors ready to cut down the nets. We are booking reservations for Disneyworld.
Short of a list minute barage of donations and votes in the last 52 minutes, we will have a clear and convincing winner in this contest.
I got a phone call and now realize that we only have 28 minutes left.
This is an issue that has never really made much sense to me. Why can't the residents of D.C. have a counted vote in at least the House? Do we really want to disenfranchise voters?
I'm not sure where Glenn stands on this. Hopefully he will post and let us know.
Look at the House Roll Call of H.R. 1905 (D.C. Voting Rights Act of 2007)
I can see that this did not fall completely down party lines as there were a handfull of Republicans that voted for D.C. Voting Rights (22) and a couple of Dems (6) that voted against D.C. Voting rights.
* $565 has come in this afternoon all to Melancon. That is 565 points plus 3 votes. Let's keep it going. I think I"m going to need to reset the Two for Tuesdays goal*
Let's see if we can't pick up some more points tomorrow. I've been getting a lot of good feedback on the Melancon race. We just need to help Glenn raise awareness and some money.
Let's make this the start of something big and crush Ralph Hall in Texas 4.
Melancon - 346 + 2 subscriptions + 90 points in a donation +4 vote points = 540 points
(Merkley - 128 points
Brown - 80 points
Of course this competition is a long way from over, but we are going to need more participation in bonus points from the Charlie Brown or Jeff Merkley folks.
Not a lot of change today after the big points yesterday. Melancon is at 348 points after a vote pickup. I think that is all that went down today. If I stand corrected, I will change it. Brown and Merkley are going to have to get moving if they want to make up some ground.
(remember this is a two week contest this time)
Remember 15 points for every donation regardless of amount on Two For TuesdayThat is in addition to the ten points for every ten dollars donated. so we had some major bonus points accumulated already.
