To the people such as myself who would NEVER, EVER make an alliance with Grover Norquist or support him or any of his allies, I present to you a guy who is so FULL OF SH1T I simply did not know what to do with myself.
Evidence of how full of shit this person is can be found below the fold.
Grace Ross, who ran in 2006 as the Green Party's candidate for governor of Massachusetts, is now running in the Democratic primary for the same office, against incumbent governor Deval Patrick. "I wasn't planning to run again," stated Ross, "but things got worse. Things got worse for regular people."
2009 was a crazy year, wasn't it? It is hard to fathom, but it was only a year ago that the nation stood in united excitement and pride over the popular and historic new president-elect. Despite everything that had happened in 2008; the financial collapse, the two seemingly endless wars, the bitter and heated election season, the country somehow seemed stronger at the end of the year. I don't think I only feel that way because I supported Barack Obama. I guess I could be naïve, or just wrong, but judging by his high approval and favorability ratings at the time, not to mention just the buzz and excitement that seemed to run through everything that January, I think a large majority of the country was ready to start in a new direction. We were ready for change.
What a difference a year makes. As anyone reading this knows, the honeymoon faded fast, and gave way to one of the most brutal and partisan atmospheres since....well, since George Bush was in office. In political terms, not much has changed. The minority party is entrenched deep in their bunkers, only peering out to throw the occasional verbal grenade or political obstruction. The majority party increasingly leans towards the disposition that due to the moral inferiority of the minority, it is appropriate to turn a deaf ear and leave them out. The lines have been repainted in bright new paint. It is political warfare in America, from the Hill, to the blogs, to the dinner table.
What needs to be done in 2010? What can the left do in 2010 to ensure a better, stronger America for ALL Americans?
Before deciding what needs to be done, first we must remember what we are fighting for.
Paul Wellstone
July 21, 1944 - October 25, 2002
The people of this country, not special interest big money, should be the source of all political power. Government must remain the domain of the general citizenry, not a narrow elite.
~ Senator Paul Wellstone
"Politics isn't about big money or power games; it's about the improvement of people's lives"
~ Senator Paul Wellstone
"I think this is really a good example of the commercial calculus and ties taking precedence over everything else. It's sort of like the almighty dollar is triumphing over a lot of other values that we have as a nation."
What can we get done, and what should we push for in 2010? I've got a limited list off the top of my head.
Nationally
1. Campaign Finance + Lobbying Reform
2. Wall Street Reform: When the storm is over, we fix the ship
3. Antitrust Action: Improve the DOJ so we can actually go after monopolists. Maybe go after a few? (hint the top 7 richest Americans xWarren Buffett)
4. Want a Public Option? Get five more D Senators in 2010, or get three and by doing so scare two more. (Hurt the corporate media by disproving their meme that Dems are toast in '10?)
5. Jobs bill

My name is Lois Herr, and I'm running for Congress in PA-16.
And I am mad.
While there is much good in last night's healthcare bill, an amendment sponsored by my opponent, Rep. Joe Pitts, is a direct attack on the freedom and privacy of American women.
Now keep in mind: this is the same Pitts who LED the debate of this amendment on the floor .
Remember Scott Murphy? I do. I wrote about a dozen diaries to help fundraise and phonebank for Scott Murphy in the special election for NY-20 held earlier this year.
Scott Murphy (D) beat Republican Jim Tedisco by a mere 200+ votes in that election.
And now he is undecided on whether or not he will vote on Health Care Reform, otherwise known as "Obama's Waterloo" in the Wingnutosphere.
So, what did I work my ass off for earlier this year?
I worked my ass off for the right to Yell Louder at Scott Murphy, who might listen to me, as opposed to a wingnut who certainly wouldn't, and I plan to use that right now, and I hope you will too.
The Democratic Primary in the Alabama Gov's race has really heated up in the last week. The two announced candidates, Artur Davis and Ron Sparks, debated at an NAACP Forum on Friday night. A style more suited for Davis's strengths.
Davis hit Sparks on some of his most recent comments very quickly with a web ad released today. I'm interested in seeing the Sparks campaign response.
This ad comes on a lot of rumblings that Davis has moved too far right of the Democratic base in Alabama.
Sparks plans to keep doing what he does well, meeting the people across the state, with a BBQ Meet and Greet/ Fundraiser scheduled for tomorrow night in Cullman. The event will take place at the Cullman Civic Center from 5:30 to 7:00 and according to the invite will include live music, BBQ and Elvis.
Two very contrasting styles of campaigning. Davis obviously much stronger in debate and forum style settings. Sparks better at pressing the flesh and old school retail politicking.
Let's get this straight: The White House has allowed first lady Michelle Obama to tool around Moscow, the Czech Republic and even Ghana in the past year, but officials are a little worried about her coming to South Carolina...
A loudmouthed minority of Neanderthals and sore losers have so poisoned the national discourse with their racist rantings, crude jokes and veiled threats that they have sullied South Carolina's reputation more than any governor, congressman or senator could ever imagine.
This is a much needed call for civility and a return to the custom of southern hospitality.
#2 For Profit insurance denies a toddler coverage for being underweight. This is just another of thousands of examples of why the free market can not be left to its own devices with our health insurance. It has failed for decades. We need a public insurance choice.
#3 Fox News is being debated right now in the mainstream. Do they have any redeeming news values, or is there an agenda for the entire network? Greta is defending herself as unbiased, the good people at the Huffington Post have compiled The Ten Most Egregious Fox News Distortions More discussion at Huffington Post
#6 North Carolina Senator Burr touts funds from the Stimulus that he voted against. This is quite a common occurrence these days, I wonder if we could craft a second stimulus of just things like what Republicans have touted in their own districts.
#7 Bernard Kerik, Rudy Guiliani's Chief of Police and Bush's pick to lead the Department of Homeland Security is in jail.
Fox is going after Obama's picks for his cabinet yet I doubt they will mention one from their side who is now charged with conspiracy, wire fraud and mail fraud.
The final day to get a refund for your donations to Arlen Specter 2010 is this thursday, Oct 15 2009. I doubt anyone who is reading this donated to Arlen Specter the Republican, but anyone who is donating to Arlen Specter the quasi-Democrat is actually paying back the Republican. Confused yet? To be honest, I have no idea what the hell Specter is, and I suspect the moment he wins Re-Election he will morph back into what he used to be, a conservative shill. Arlen Specter only and has only belonged to one party, the Arlen Specter party. That is why we should help Joe Sestak trounce Specter in the primaries.
Dear readers and fellow writers, I would like to open the floor to debate regarding how we at The Progressive Electorate.com can help change Politics in our nation, states and local areas with the most bang for our bucks.
This means a no-holds barred, anything goes debate, so all ideas are open and anyone who would like to is invited to have their say, this being a Democracy and all.
If I may give the debate some direction to start thinggs off, I would like to suggest that we add ot our act blue page the Democratic Nominee fund to oppose Senator Joe Lieberman (Fink-CT) in the 2012 election, and I hereby predict that Lieberman WILL be a Republican in the next few months, and by 2011 at the latest.
Also, I would like to discuss our current ActBlue page, including it's recent success and roster members.
Okay, so, that being said, the floor is now open to debate, and any and all (Lurkers included) are invited to join in.
Thanks to your help we raised over $10K for Candidates in the 2008 Cycle.
