Davis vs. Sparks - And the Race is On and It's not Even Official

Artur Davis's campaign has already thrown a fastball right down the middle at Ron Sparks. He has until Friday to strikeout or get on base. While this is certainly a good pitch, I doubt Sparks strikes out on this one.

From his campaign spokesperson

Davis campaign spokesperson Anna Ruth Williams said, "While we would never presume to be sure what Commissioner Sparks will do, if he should enter the governor's race, we look forward to hearing from him why his previous concerns about dividing the party have disappeared. We do note that Mr. Sparks does seem sure of two things, that he wants to hold on to a good government job and that desire is now more important to him than unifying the Democratic Party."

Wow here's the full text of the press release at Left in Alabama complete with a number of links to comments Sparks has made about his intentions

I'm of the opinion a contested primary for Governor will be good for Alabama political bloggers. Heck I might even be able to get enough hits to start getting some advertising dollars. So keep it coming as far as I'm concerned.
