During E.B. McClain's last campaign, I remember some commercials where one of his opponents said that "E.B. stands for Easily Bought". I still don't know what E.B. really stands for or remember the name of the opponent, but a Birmingham Federal Jury agreed with the opponent on the easily bought part. E.B. McClain, who represents a Western Jefferson County Senate District, and Rev. Samuel Pettagrue were found guilty on all 48 counts. Charges included bribery, money laundering and mail fraud.
McClain's guilty conviction ends his Senate career and a special election will be held to find a replacement. There will probably be a number of candidates that consider this seat. Two potential candidates that come to mind are State Rep's Priscilla Dunn and Merika Coleman. We will keep an eye on a special election date and announced candidates.
