MS the clear choice (4.00 / 1)
I would like to see the focus on the Mississippi Senate race.  This is a race that the Democrats CAN WIN and one that would put 60 seats in view.  I'd love to beat Cornyn in Texas as much as anyone else, but as a practical matter it's just extremely unlikely.  All the listed House candidates are solid but one House seat simply cannot compare to the opportunity for a gain in the Senate.

Thanks for those thoughts (0.00 / 0)
I'm not hearing much from that race to be honest. The republicans may give up on it if Musgrove polling numbers increases even more the next month or so. Remember he doesn't even have to run with a D on his name since it's technically a special election.

Rick Noriega in Texas (4.00 / 2)
I'm of course a little biased because I'm a Texan, but having lived through our unfortunate attempt in 2006 to take a Senate seat, John Cornyn's lackluster ability to do anything, and Noriega's profile in fixing his messes (from serving in Afghanistan in Cornyn's war, directing logistics in Houston after Katrina, and serving on the Texas border) is a pretty clear contrast and actually gaining traction with Texans. There's a reason Cornyn can't clear 50% in the polls even though he's been in statewide office for close to two decades.

Seconded (4.00 / 1)
Noriega is going to be a strong challenger in a state that is trending toward becoming a battleground state, with a significant and growing Latino population.  Cornyn is a cipher, and he's vulnerable.

Pick Dan Seals (4.00 / 1)
The race in the Illinois Tenth District is definitely one that needs all the support it can get. Dan Seals is a promising and progressive candidate with a lot going for him facing Mark Kirk, a Bush ally and incumbent who has more money for his campaign than any other race in the entire House. Dan lost to Kirk in 2006 by 53-47, a close race even for his first run. Now he faces Kirk again, with an Obama wave well behind him, though Kirk has already has banked $5 million that he'll be flooding into the contest. The one thing Seals could use now is a little extra contribution from The Progressive Electorate to help oust this Bush lacky from an already blue district that voted for Kerry in 04 and could really use the change. Cook has put it as a toss up. Time Magazine listed it 3rd in its 15 "House and Senate races to watch." This support would really make a difference in a race that is sure to be close.
