I just learned this morning that Birmingham City Councilor Miriam Witherspoon died last night. I had known Miriam to be a good public servant. She was a very good advocate for people with disabilities and the seniors.
She was named miss Wheelchair Alabama 1989-1990. She was injured near the end of her junior year in law school in a car accident while on a school break. Her spinal cord was severed in the accident, leaving her paralyzed.
She has worked as a lawyer for about 20 years, and was an advocate for people with disabilities across the state. She also taught at Miles Law School.

We support candidates that share our passion for improving government, ensuring equal rights and opportunity, social and economic justice and civil liberties.
